Hi

I have just taken a look at the status page of my Webstar cable modem, and the config file reads as "xv9873254k;f" - i'm on the 20mb service and i've never seen a config file name like that before.

Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks

On the status page of mine it is empty on the table

yeah your either on bund03 or on cm20480-768.
For all the xv9873254k;f its just VMs new way of stopping cloners, encrypted configs, dont know how they work though cause you could always test the speed elsewhere and the configs can still be forced

could be an old modem that doesnt like dynamic configs
to be honest the configs are useless nowadays no point in looking
If you suspect to be not on the correct package run a speedtest.net and look at your download/upload but use the upload as a measure of the tier you are on

2048/200 = 2 meg
4096/400 (soon to be 10240/512) = 4 meg/10 meg
20480/768 = 20 meg

sometimes speedtest struggles on the D/S but you can always tell by the upstream
If your running legit you can always check on the config max upstream and downstream page on the CM.
The only use for config filenames now is for clones
