If you where going to a wedding with one lens what would it be ?

Im going to a friends wedding to partake in the day but also to take the dslr and get some pics for him. There will be no official photographer but they would like some pics. I really want to go with one lens and i am happy to buy one for the day.

Shoot !

24-70mm? I assume we are talking from your current selection, and your current selection is as on your DA page?

I will buy a new lens if needed, was going to stock up more anyhoo ;)

I quite fancy the Canon 85mm, i love the 50mm but sometimes a little more length would help. However this would be limiting obv.

I'd say the 28-70mm and the 50mm you have will be ample. The 85mm will become a 136mm and I don't think that would be of much use at a wedding.

There are 3 Canon lenses that make perfect wedding photography choices.

  • Canon 24-70L F2.8
  • Canon 24-105L F4 IS
  • Canon 17-55 F2.8 IS (EF-S)

I personally use the 24-70L and it is flawless - It's the perfect focal range, sharp and great in low light conditions. So, it would be my choice :)

I thought about it but my m8 is on his 2nd and still not happy with it :(
what issues is he having with it? Not had the time to use it properly yet but from the test photos i have taken it's superb, and about x3 the sharpness of my 17-85mm at the wide end

here's one i took of my mate the fox who always sits on the roof next to my kitchen window sleeping! The amount of detail it picks up is phenominal
