Wedding Photo Ideas

Hi,

Having a few thoughts about my wedding in a few weeks. We have a photographer etc and his work is good so happy with that. Just thinking about what else we could do to capture the day in the best way possible.

I'm considering a few different things that I'd like your thoughts on, if you have other ideas please add those too!

• GoPros - I might beg borrow or hire a few GoPros and one of those standalone audio recorders and stash them around the room. Sure it won't be like getting a pro videographer but we are not going to do that anyway so I just thought this might be a nice little extra. Would then look to move them to the reception room and just see what we capture. I've no video editing experience but I've got plenty of time to work that out after the events.
  • Pros: memories in a whole other medium for relatively little cost
  • Cons: Limited angles and mounting options, would be relatively wide angles and not wonderful audio compared to a proper manned video recording
• Disposable Cameras - I might place a few single use cameras around by the guest book and on the reception tables just to see what people capture and to add to the number of photos that we have.
  • Pros: Cost of the cameras are cheap, easy for people to use, minimum focus distance works for selfies
  • Cons: Developing costs are relatively high. Potential wastage if only half the exposures are used.
• Polaroid Cameras - Something like the OneStep 2 with the same idea as above. Bit of novelty value, maybe lends it self more to a scrap book than the plain disposable film cameras.
  • Pros: No development costs, see photos on the day,
  • Cons: Would have to buy and then sell on the cameras, more difficult for people to use, people have to change the cartridges, minimum focus distance doesn't allow selfies

To further expand the GoPro idea I had also thought about a 360 camera somewhere in the middle of the room as well as probably three normal GoPros. I've seen some really good 360 footage and some really rubbish stuff. Is this a bit of a gimmick really? I'd be using it more for the 1080 coverage of any given angle after the fact for ease of coverage rather than the big warped 360 thing.

Just need to share these ideas with someone and get some perspective and other opinions.

Appreciate any thoughts one way or the other or any other ideas I've not had.

P.S. photographer is a personal friend and not worried about guests taking photos. I know some take exception. Guess that's more about guests turning up with high end kit anyway not these disposable type of ideas.

Unfortunately we had to cancel the wedding 48 hours out due to the whole coronavirus situation.

Back to the drawing board!
