Morning peeps,

Ive been told i need to pull my finger out now and sort out a photographer
for our wedding.

Instead of going though the phone book etc id prefer a referall.

Anyone in the northwest used a good one? (im not asking for ppl off
here as that can't be done)

Also some of the prices ive seen have been way over what id thought tbh,
maybe its just me but £1200+ wasnt what id thought of LOL

Cheers

Andy

£1200 is normal really, think of it this way.

Wedding Photographers gets the most work in the summer, they are mostly on weekends if not exclusively as people have to turn up and most people work in the week. So realisticly they can only do 1 or 2 weddings a week, and the summer here is short so even a busy wedding photographer do 10-15 weddings in the summer.

If you multiply that, say £1000 each, then it's only £10-15k a year. That's not a big salary if you ask me for someone who is doing it full time. So £1200 might seem a lot for a day but they have to pay for bills and rent for the rest of the year when work is not so easily come by.

When put like that i suppose you are right!

the list was immpressive for the money thou,

3 albums, 300-500 pictures from the day
full res images provided on a DVD (the whole set)

the rest wasnt needed imo, piccies of the bride as she is getting ready
and from the night before bla bla.

i also want the pictures to be mainly candids of the day with the
"normal" formal ones. Candids are much more inteesting IMO and
will help remeber the day better than a load of formal ones that
ppl have to get in line for.

Cheers

I agree but it is very unlikely that a "Good" Photographer will only take wedding photos. Surely he must also be able to take school photos, local sports events for freebee newspapers, etc, etc?

Just look at the perks (all that wedding cake and leftover Champagne) :D

Of course if you pay peanuts you'll probably get monkeys :) If you're gonna get one, get a good 'un!

I am doing the candids for my friends' wedding in November, they actually wanted me to do the formal, i was flattered but I never done it before and don't really want the responsiblities. Plus I wanna enjoy the wedding and not walk around all day asking people to pose for me. And the bride's parents want a pro to do it too, it was the bride who really advocate for me to do it. So I am doing the candids which i think would be a blast.

Candids are much better IMO.

Would like to see some of yours dude after the wedding.
Im sure you'll have fun doing it, i cant wait to get my camera
to a wedding :) - missus wont let me have it at ours lol
