So just wondered if any one had any ideas, UK only.

Want to surprise Mrs with a break so we can have a weekend together not in parent mode!

Just want relaxtion and maybe some sights close by to walk to or some nice pubs, hotel with spa stuff be ideal.

Bath would get my vote. Beautiful place with lots of history and things to do. Thermal spa and roman baths are fantastic and pretty much everything is in walking distance of the centre.

I took my Mrs last year and we spent a lovely relaxing weekend there.

Can vouch for a place called Tor Farm in Cheddar.

Lovely log cabins with Hot Tubs.

There is a pub in Cheddar called "The Bath Arms" where I took Mrs Shawrey and was extremely impressed with the food - Michelin Star quality minus the price tag.

There's also a cider barn serving the finest Somerset brews on the main road to Cheddar from the Farm too.

Another vote for Bath. It's a beautiful city with plenty to do, everything is within close proximity when you are in the city centre so can walk pretty much everywhere. As above the Thermal Spa and Roman Baths are worth a visit, plus there is an open top bus trip around the city which isn't too bad either.

There are also some great places to eat and drink throughout.

I may be slightly biased as I live local but always recommend to those that have never been.

Lovely suggestions thanks all! I'm in Bradford of which has nothing nice.

Starting from Bradford, I'd go to Whitby. Lovely little seaside town, and not a ridiculous travel time for a weekend trip starting from Bradford. If there's good weather you can easily get into the moors or walk along the seaside, but Whitby's touristy enough that there's stuff to do even if the weathers, well, English.

The other option would be to head for the Lakes, probably Windermere, but it's much more dependent on the weather unless you're both the type to enjoy walking in inclement weather. The lakes are just lovely.
