I'm looking at taking the mrs away for a short weekend in November. We'll be going without the kids, so we're very restricted time-wise. It will only be for 2 nights, so I don't want to be flying for more than 2 hours from Gatwick/Heathrow, otherwise that just eats into what little time we have away.
I also don't want to go anywhere where there's lots to see/do (as we'd save that for another trip when we have more time), so that rules out places like Paris, Rome, Barcelona etc.
We've been to Ljubljana, Verona and Budapest before, so those are ruled out.
Any recommendations? Possible options so far are Amsterdam, Oslo and Prague.

). What I meant was I'd rather go somewhere smaller where we could see the majority of the city, rather than only see <50% of a larger city and be forced to either miss the rest, or go back.
