Weekly vs monthly travelcards, London

Ugh, I'm struggling with the TFL website... someone please explain... :D

I'm currently getting a weekly travelcard, commuting for a week, then work from home one day and get another weekly travelcard and so on.

So in a long 31 day month I buy 4 weekly travelcards and roll a day over to the next month, shorter months I roll more days over to the next month.

How do monthly travelcards work with the varying month length? Are they pro-rated or do they just work out more expensive on a shorter month? Or do you get 31 days travel whatever the length of the month?

I'm trying to work out if it would work out more expensive for me to get a monthly, based on working from home one day a week which I don't currently pay to travel on.
 
Not speaking from experience, but I would have expected the monthly travelcards to be cheaper, surely?
 
You get 31 days travel regardless of the length of the month.

For example if you bought a monthly on the 29th it wouldn't expire a day or 2 later when the month ends :) - It would definitely work out cheaper to buy monthly :)
 
Its just 1 month..I buy mine on the 10th of every month..as it expires on the 9th of every month :)

No you don't, and I still have the travelcard receipt starting from 11th Feb and ending on 10th March in my wallet to prove it.

I live in zone 5 and a monthly travelcard costs £169, and it's about £45 for a weekly one so a monthly one works out a bit cheaper.
 
I thought all types of travelcard were pro rata except for the annuals. Just checked TFL and it looks like they reversed it again.
