weight lifting Breathing technique???

I know as a general rule:
-Exhale when lifting, Inhale when lowering..

BUT

Do you Exhale slowly while lifting or once your reach the point of most resistance???


and
for some reason i have read in a couple of articles:
you Inhale when lifting while doing barbell curls, and exhale when lowering???

...are there any exceptions??


sorry for a slightly n00bish question, and thanks for your advice in advance...

I'm sure this will be cleared up quite quickly :D
 
never really thought about how i breathe when i curl, probably because i dont do it very often!

some people breathe at the hardest part of the rep, personally i try to breathe out for the length of the business part of the rep.
