I'm trying to get in shape along with a few people at work and we've all put our starting weights down and each week we have a weigh and so on and so forth...

I was looking at how we figured the weight in stones out and i'm 100% sure it's done wrong.

Let's take me - On the scales I came in at 101kg

One of the girls who is doing this with me did the calculation 101 x 2.2 (to get it to lbs) = 222.2 and then divided it by 14 to get it to Stones and Lbs which worked out at 15.87. So she wrote 15.9 for me.

I'm certain that because there are 14lbs to a stone that just dividing by 14 isn't accurate. I think that .87 should be divided by 10 and then multiplied by 14 to give the actual lbs. So my 15.87 would actually be 15 stone 12 lbs.

I checked on google for a lbs to stone calc and you can get to 15 stone 9.9 but never 15 stone 10 to 14.

It's not the hugest issue because I don't want to tell the girls who are 9 stone 8 that they are actually 9 stone 11 :/ On the brighter side for everyone each lb they think they lost, they actually lost 1.4lbs :D

Just wanted someone to check over my figures if that's cool? :)

Thanks

You are correct.

Her calculations only look at the base unit of stones and not pounds so the decimal needs to be recalculated is in units of lbs.

(Although you would just multiple the .87 by 14 and not divide by 10 first).
