how can i find weight limits and general baggage restrictions for gatwick airport to a flight to the USA?

not the new restrictions, just how many suitcases and how much hand luggage going there and coming back

Will depend on the airline, it varies quite a bit. Check who you are flying with and phone them or look on their website.

(There is an absolute maximum though that is imposed due to health and safety for the baggage handlers). I think it's something like 32Kg, but often in economy you'll be limited to less than that.

The airline you choose to fly with will dictate the weights, some may even dictate the size of the luggage (especially hand luggage).

Most airlines offer 20Kg for economy and 30Kg for business class. Hand luggage would be in the region of 6-8Kg.

You really need to check the airlines website.

The maximum is per bag though, and 2 people taking one case between them could easily go over 25kg. That means even in economy, you can be over the maximum for a single bag, but not over the maximum total allowance.

If you are flying economy, then I'd assume somewhere between 20 and 25kg. If you have printed tickets, it will be on those, otherwise it will be on the website for the airline you're using.

Look on your airlines website as they impose the weight limits

No one else will know as it varys big time ie (few years ago though)
LHR > AKL Air Nz 2x 32kg
LHR > AKL Sing. Air 1x 10kg

Airlines do vary, but generally to the USA you get to take 2 pieces of luggage, each weighing no more than 32kg.

Yes that's a lot, but it's the norm. I guess Americans take a lot of junk with them when they travel...
