Weird 6850 problem

Hi their today my mate gave me his old SBK 11 game I installed it with the direct x files and when I came back when it was over I noticed artefacts every where and red lines across the screen shocked I tryed individual cards the problem seems to occur on both was close to RMA and then I thought I will try in safe mode then the image was fine no artefacts or lines could this be the direct x files that got installed?
