I recently upgraded to a 512 GTS from my 7800GTX EE. So I decided to install the 7800 into my wife's machine (E6600, 4GB, Abit AB9 Pro motherboard).
It installed fine and ran for a day or two without an issue. On starting the PC again it would not boot. Sometimes a continuous beep was heard or just get the system booting and then a black screen. So I removed the card and put back the X300 that was in there before but I had to reset the BIOS jumper for the machine to boot normally.
But when I put the 7800 back in my machine (x2 3800, Asus A8n SLi) it works fine.
Can there be incompatibilities between video cards and motherboards? Is this normal? The firmware release on the Abt site mention nothing about video cards.
