Hi chaps

I recently installed a new Q6600 G0, Abit IP35 board and OCZ 6400 memory, but it doesn't always post correctly. The first time I thought it was memory so I swapped it for some other DDR2 (unbranded exlier 6400 stuff) and it was ok again. After playing a game for 20mins the system rebooted and wouldn't post again. Reset BIOS, left it for a while and tried again - no luck.

Tonight I swapped back in the OCZ memory and it posted but froze on the initial post screen where the HD/Optical drive info comes up. Turned it off, left it for a while and tried again and it posts but freezes later just before the XP loading screen would normally come on.

I've tried just one stick of ram, clearing BIOS etc no joy though. Seems a bit odd? The temps were fine before and it is running the latest BIOS (11) already.

Any ideas would be great!

Right got it into the BIOS after taking one stick out and swapping it over. It might be the default 1.8v on memory is too low for the OCZ? Heard of that problem before.

Temps

CPU: 32c
SYS: 36c
PWM: 49c

Volts (stock)
CPU: 1.19
DDR2: 1.79
CPU VTT: 1.2
MCH: 1.25
+12v: 11.89
+3.3v: 3.29

CPU and Ram default volts seem too low?

setting the correct mem volts has solved a few probs for others over on the abit forum :)
on the ip35 :)

Ok after putting the second stick in, it posted fine and I set 2.1v in the BIOS. Seems to be OK now the Windows. Going to stress test it at stock for now.

This OCZ memory is on the Abit IP35 compatibility list, so is meant to be fine at 1.8v :(

Hmm it just reset/froze during stress testing with the Q6600 at stock. It won't post again now. The temps were fine - around 55c on full load.

Going to test the chip and memory in another board at work tomorrow to check they are ok.

as far as I can see there is no OCZ memory on the qualified list http://www2.abit.com.tw/test-report/ip35_ip35-e.htm?2 & even if there were imo other than simply booting at the JEDEC 1.8V it would be qualified at the vendor's recommended timings & voltage.
After all, if the RAM mfr itself won't guarantee it to do the timings at lesser voltage how could abit?

Oh crud. Thats weird as I saw the post on xtremesystems which had OCZ listed :\ Thanks, I'll get some more RAM :)
