Weird AP network problem

My network setup (simplified) is:

Router->Powerline adaptor (F5D4078)->wiring->Powerline adaptor (F5D4078)->1Gbps switch->TP-Link WA-701ND->Laptop (Wireless)

With the network as shown, everything plugged into the 1Gbps switch can communicate with everything else. Devices which connect to the AP (WA-701ND) get DHCP addresses, they can ping the AP and anything connected to the switch, but that's it. They can't ping the router, they can't get to the internet.

With this config:
Router->Powerline adaptor (F5D4078)->wiring->Powerline adaptor (F5D4078)->1Gbps switch->Laptop (Wired)
everything works as expected.

With this config:
Router->TP-Link WA-701ND->Laptop (Wireless)
everything works as expected

With this config:
Router->1Gbps switch->TP-Link WA-701ND->Laptop (Wireless)
everything works as expected

Is there some kind of setting I need to change? It's almost like TCP packets won't cross two network bridges (Wifi->LAN->powerline->LAN).

Thanks,
Annirak

Talk of 'bridges' raises a few questions. Nothing even remotely bridge like should be going on.

Is the WA-701ND definitely in AP-mode with its DHCP server disabled?

I speak of bridges because AP's and powerline networks are MAC-level bridges.

The WA-701ND is definitely in AP-mode with the DHCP server disabled. In fact, the router reports the DHCP leases.
