I get a little artifacting in the odd game (Hard Reset, CS:S, Stalker etc), though all I have needed to do so far is to drop the core clock down by 5 - 10 mhz, and it's always cleared the problem up. For this reason, I can't be bothered to rma mine, when in all likelihood what could well happen is that I simply receive my card back with no fault found. That said, it does 'seem' that the frequency is increasing a little, so my advice would be to obviously keep an eye on it, and try dropping the core clock down in very small increments like I've done. Same applies to the memory clock as well, though I would alter only one clock at a time, so you know what is / isn't working.
I don't know if there's a general pattern to it, but I have wondered if factory overclocked models of cards are a little more likely to artifact that stock speed ones? Maybe it's not related, but I remember when Gigabyte had a very high return rate of the SOC gtx480's - a good number of people were having to drop the clocks well below the overclock to get the temps reasonable / less artifacts.
