Okay so in all my years, this is REALLY weird.

Any voice comms I use such as Skype, Vent, Teamspeak etc, Lags EXTREMELY in receiving audio and transmitting my mic whenever I extract with WinRAR or copy files with windows explorer but as soon as I stop or cancel, they're fine again..?

I have no idea what's causing it. I've rebooted. Shut down. WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!?!

Can anybody help?

Has it always been like this?

I'm not sure, but it's probably just using the HDD as a data buffer. So when you max out the HDD with a file transfer it will be queuing Skype's traffic between the bulky file transfer, causing it to down.

But I would have thought real-time VoIP application like Skype would simply utilise RAM for any buffering within the application, and not I/O to a temporary file.(?)

Check to see if your drives are set to AHCI in the bios.
Check to see if the drives have defaulted to PIO mode in windows.

It's only started happening since I started using an SSD boot drive and set my HDD's to AHCI.. :/
