Ok, this is driving me a bit crazy now, anyone else seen anything like this?
Old system:
Asus A8n-sli premium
Athlon 3500+
2 Gig Ram
7800GT
Wireless PCI Card
Creative Audigy 2 zs
On Saturday I changed the 3500+ to an X2 4200+. And now the audigy will not work. The only thing I did was remove the Graphics card and PCI cards as I had to remove the motherboard to fit the chip. They were replaced in the same slots, everything exactly the same as before bar the new chip.
On boot up I now get no sound, in device manager I get a “Cannot Start (Code 10)” error. I’ve tried:
- Reinstalling drivers (a LOT)
- Cleaning all creative drivers and reinstalling
- Taking card out, booting up, then turning off, reinserting and booting (this was recommended on the creative forum)
- Changing PCI slots
- Removing Wireless card
- Removing wireless cards AND different PCI slots
Nothing seems to work, the only strange thing is that I have 2 1394 drives now on the system, and the (I assume) creative one is also showing a Code 10 error.
I don’t suppose anyone has seen anything like this? I didn’t know if it might be an issue over the X2 (though I can’t see how it could!). My last call is to try the card in a different machine to see if it works but I’m always careful over how I handle parts and I find it difficult to believe it’s gone wrong in the 20 minutes it took me to switch CPU’s!
PS It’s REALLY driving me crazy!
