Weird audio connections on PC case

Hey there

I have a question regarding my new PC case. For the front-panel audio, it doesn't have connections that will plug into the motherboard, it has 2 separate jacks (basically like the plug part of a set of headphones) for the audio output and input, which I have no idea what I am supposed to do with them because there is nowhere to plug them into on the motherboard.

Also, my onboard sound doesn't seem to be working, I have enabled it in the BIOS and added the correct drivers but the system doesn't seem to be detecting anything...

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is for both of these question, and how can I sort them out?

Thanks for your help and time.

Can't help you with why it's not being detected (beyond making sure it's switched on in BIOS).
But those little plugs give you "either/or". You run them through the case, out an expansion card slot, and plug them up to the rear panel. At least that's what I've always had to do with them. Maybe there's some weirdo soundcard out there with jacks on the side of it?

You can snip the plugs off, get some little header pins and shove them onto the mobo header with the aid of a pinout map.
