hi

Today after using my PC just to browse the internet my PC started to make a strange low toned beeping noise, it increases in volume when i turn up the sound.

im using on board sound at the mo

I have tried to plug in my 3.5mm jack in my case and directly on the motherboard, the strange beeping noise is still there, constant beeping.

its not coming from the small motherboard speaker to indicate a problem, ive had a successful build and cannot identify the noise., last few days was fine.

Ive un-installed the realtek drivers, as its this software that comes with the sonic sound software, now during installation of the drivers the weird beeping noise disappeared, but as soon as i re-started the PC the single beeping sound comes back.

Please note the beeping sound doesn't sound like a official beep, its more like a water drop beep type sound, every second, cannot find what this is, maybe a mobo sound chip failure ?

driving me nuts

Asus rampage extreme mobo

its might be the mobo, as the beep is much louder when connected to my optical headphones.

Also cpu temp is only 38 and no other warning or issues on the parts, all i have is 1 graphics card connected and nothing else, oh 1 ssd and 4 hdd's

I think its a faulty sound capacitior

Do you have a sound card that you could try? Could you disable mobo sound to see if it's something to do with onboard sound?

Not sure it'll help but who knows.

i do have a sound card, 2 infact, i will try to install now, i reset optimal settings in the bios, now for a few seconds when coming in and out of the bios the beep noise comes out of the little mobo speaker, which sounds like a click, but once in the operating system the constant beep re-occours.

i think its a mobo issue, nothing else, installing the sound card might not work as the mobo might send the beep noise through the sound card?

But every time ive installed internal sound cards, and ive had a few, I have NEVER disabled the on-board sound in the bios....is that something that must be done?

I just wack in the sound card and away i go.....wrong?

well im gonna ignore this issue as i have a more serious one

You know the last pcie slot on this mobo, the last red slot on the bottom, i think its not working, i have connected sound cards, wifi cards gpu, s and no hardware is recognised on that slot, place the hardware anywhere else and it works perfectly

the only thing is that the lights light up on the hardware, so power is getting there but theres no communication

I also checked the mobo to see if it was switched of, all the 4 white switches are on, Im one click away from returning this board but im thinking may its deactivated?

so im thinking its dead or deactivated

ps cpu pins not bent and seated perfect.

Do you have a 5820k? I believe (from another thread) that the last PCIE slot is disabled with this CPU (which has fewer lanes avaialable than the more expensive CPUs). Try a google on that topic.

yep, you right, i only found out after 2 hours of scratching my balls in confusion, so ive lost a lane due to my 5820k, but a upgrade to a 5930k or change of mobo will solve that.
