I've been beginning to experiment with a mild OC of my i7 920. (Having first sorted out my cooling problem with a new case and CPU cooler!)
My bclock is currently 160, with a multiplier of 21, for a speed of 3.36GHz. vCore is set at 1.15V. This seems stable at present. prime95 is running with temps in the mid 50s.
What is odd is that it takes two attempts to start the PC. The first time I press the power button, there is a fan sound which then stops after a second or so, but the PC doesn't boot. To do this takes a second press.
I have had a couple of crashes and one or two BSOD episodes on booting up, but none whilst the PC is running.
Is my voltage too low? I may try upping it slightly, but it seemed an odd problem for this to cause.
EDIT: Checked the vCore, I had it set to 1.15 not 1.1. Have upped it one notch anyway to see what happens.
