Hi there,

Got some laptops at work, had 3 of them doing it now. They display a weird BSOD message, and it doesn't fill the screen, it stays small. Unlike a normal BSOD on these where if fills the screen.

Here are 2 pictures on the message:

This will happen randomly, sometimes every 2mins, sometimes never for a day.

I can't make the fault happen, i've had one that does it loads for over 2 days, trying everything Stressing it/mem check, generally teacher programs andstuff. Google has no answers. Now we're lost!

Cheers

Warren

Laptop looks fairly new, have yout tried phoning toshiba and going through troubleshooting stages with them, this could lead to the laptop been repaired under warranty.

Is it an L100 by any chance, we have them at work and there so slow and poorly made, cant say i've ever seen one do that though!

I've had that error before and it turned out to be the system memory was fault. Try was a stick from a laptop known to be good and see if it improves things.

Opss ok.. sorry I just happended to be playing with a dell laptop at the time.. well okay, just stick with the vanila video drivers rather than those supplied by the laptop manufacture.

See if that works.

wouldn't have needed driver clean.

When we get laptops they are wiped and images.

This image was created from a brand new clean install of windows on a formatted HDD.

So there shouldn't be any driver issues

And GFX card - nope - is a intel based on board chipset GFX

Let me get this right.. You say laptops (plural) so by this you mean you do this to more than one.. Is this Laptop different to the others?

If it is, then it may have the wrong drivers. Using imaging for mass install are fine where they are all the same spec of machines but not when they are all different.

Can you boot into safe mode ok?

Okay i'll out line it.

I have a batch of 30 laptops all the same.

I take one, wipe it, do a fresh install of windows. install all the latest drivers. and software needed. Then upload an image of the HDD to a windows SMS server. Then I 'Image' the other laptops.

This imaging - formatss the HDD and installs the image of the HDD on the new one.

This saves time of installing 30 laptops one by one.

So drivers are fine.

I have 3 laptops that have done this.

The other load have had no faults.

We are wondering if wireless has anything to do with this error, as it hasn't happened at home for the users, only on site.

Yes I'm quite aware of how imaging works thanks. I'm trying to eliminate possible causes to resolve your problem. Since it's only just come up that you were batch installing, the question was asked just to make sure... I don't know anything about your machine so i have to asks questions... It's part of the process.

Ok, now we have established that you are installing the image across many of the same PCs, and three are not working, then it's safe to say it's not a driver issue. Since also we know that you have many of these laptops that DO work, I would suggest swapping the memory with one that works, just to eliminate them.. Try the same with all the other parts incl the WiFI as well. If the problems still occurs after swapping everything out - faulty main board. If it does work, then put items back one by one until - bash!! The last item placed back in is your problem.

While I appreciate your image works on some and not others.

Have you just tried the original product recovery image as supplied with notebook and see if the error occurs?

I seen similar problems and something in the image isn't 100% and get random issues and while the obvious thing is hardware we have eventually found it be something wrong with the image.

I'm not doubting your ability but my experience is not to discount anything.

Do you know what you have installed on your image and in what order? The installation list from Toshiba is below, if you can indicate what you did and in what order it might help identify or eliminate the problem.

You could call Toshiba Technical on 0870 444 8944, option 4 and then option 4. Explain your problem, that you have created an image, they may ask if you have tested using the Toshiba image. If they are't sure then politely ask for your case to escalated to one of their level 3 technicians.

All the best.
Sparky :)
