Weird desktop artifact

Hey all,

Got this really weird problem at work that I can't trace, nor easily replicate. It seems to be intermittent.

Basically, so far what I've noticed (but not been able to confirm yet) is taht if a PC is on and logged on for a long period of time (10 hours etc) the screen starts to badly arifact. Text is unreadable, fast flickering lines all over the place - ot almost looks like a broken VGA adapter but I've ruled out screen problems by testing it on 3 others. Now if I click the 'Switch User' button, boom - screen is perfect again until the period of time has passed. Reboot the PC, same thing - artifacts are gone. It seems that changing the user, or locking and logging in gets rid of it for a while.

I don't think the GPU is overheating. It's a Viglen Genie 644 office PC. It has no external GPU.

Specs:

Core i5 3340 @3.1Ghz
4GB RAM
Win 7 Enterprise x64
Built in Intel HD Graphics

I've updated graphics drivers to no avail - came in this morning and the screen was doing the funky dance again. Logged in via MSTSC and boom, screen is back to normal.

This is a really strange one - any ideas? My next step is to run memtest. I've noticed this problem on a couple of other PCs too, but not as severe.

Thanks!
