See for yourself below. The dock indicator icon for Calendar disappears when calendar is closed (but not quit) and then taken out of focus. Only seems to happen on Calendar from limited experimentation. Apple getting us ready for a full-blown removal of dock indicator icons?

Probably best watched in full screen.

Hmm that's strange... I've just tried it and it doesn't happen for me...

I have my dock at the bottom - Maybe try that? Might be a bug when using a side dock

Check out messages in the dock and messages in the force quit panel. The program is still running. The dock icon shows different.

@tim80bwl not experienced that

but speaking of weird dock behaviour; Anyone else have instances where the whole dock disappears sometimes when you sideways swipe out of safari after you've just downloaded a file?

I've just confirmed it with a bottom Dock. It's gone from the command-tab app switching but still shows on force close.

I'm sure it's a feature, not a bug ;)

Is this something to do with ML auto closing items?

I know when Lion was coming out they were going to get rid of the open program dot/light and Lion was going to automatically close things as recourses were needed like iOS.

Was looking that. I sometimes suffer it with Safari.

Interesting thread! Definitely seems like this is more a 'feature' than a bug. Not complaining - it seems like a reasonable direction for a desktop OS to be heading in. Might take a bit of adjusting though if the dock lights suddenly become permanently switched off after some future release.

Incidentally, mine are now working as usual again ... :confused: :D
