Two very quick questions...

What program can I use to open a .ofv file? (internet provides no answer) and Why would some one use this file type over other more recognisable file types?

Cheers

I think it could be the "appliance" format for virtualbox... I have to create Virtualbox images at work and i'm sure that's the file format it uses

edit: ignore me Virtualbox uses .ovf NOT .ofv

Have you tried opening the file in openoffice?

No,

On my Mac (don't judge me :p ) it won't open with anything and on the work computer (XP) it won't open with anything (comes up with the weird text thing if opened with word/excell etc...)

As above, try the file command and see what it says. You can also try giving it a few different extensions yourself (doc, docx, pdf, odf etc if you expect it to be a tenancy agreement). You can also open the file in text editor to see what it actually looks like inside - a lot of the time you'll be able to work out what it's meant to be from that and then re-name it appropriately.

Next time ask them not to send it to you in a retarded format then, and un-install that rubbish.

// EDIT // That's the first result on Google for "ofv file extension"! I thought you'd looked :p ?
