Weird FPS issue in TF2

Basically I reversed my overclock from 3.2 to 2.4 (stock Q6600) because it just wasn't worth it. Virtually none of the games that I play noted any difference.

Now for some reason my FPS in TF2 have nose dived (I do not think that it's related to the OC). For example I was on 2Fort just a moment a go when my FPS dipped below 50 on the bridge, but nobody was about.

It's really odd. I've tried changing drivers to no avail.

Why not try increasing the overclock again and see where that takes you? If it still makes no difference then you know that it wasn't the OC.

However, TF2 is a source engine game, which is *heavily* CPU dependant.

edit: Logic would dictate that if you do something, and something bad happens, the first port of call would be to undo the 'something' that you did.

Logic certainly would dictate that. But then why would I get lower FPS in an area which was populated by zero players, when compared to an area full of pyros and what not?

No, because I know it doesn't work for me :)

It just crashes my game. Thanks for the help anyway :)

Edit: I'll try the overclock again.

Sorry if I came across as a bit rude in the earlier post - didn't word it very well...and lazy co-workers are annoying me.

(says he who is browsing a forum in work)

Not at all. I'm not obvlious to the fact that I had an 800mhz overclock, but as I said these dips are very odd.

It probably is the overclock, so we'll see.
