Weird G-sync issue with dual monitors

Hi All.

wonder if anyone has come across this issue in the past and knows a fix. Been searching for a while but my google Fu has come back with nothing so far to help.

So I have a dual monitor set-up running on a Nvidia 1080

Dell S2719DGF @ 1440p
AOC 24G1WG4 @ 1080p

Both monitors have been reported as working fine with G-sync compatible (to an extent)

So here is this issue.

If I run both monitors @ 144hz and switch G-sync on then all is good BUT I get the Nvidia bug where clock frequencies don't ramp down and no matter what driver I use this bug still seems to be present and I would rather not run this 24/7 at higher clock speeds.

So in my wisdom I have the Dell running at 144hz and the AOC running at 120hz which fixes the frequency bug But I cant then run G-sync as all of the text becomes less sharp and a bit blurry on the AOC so I have to switch G-sync off on just the AOC for the text to become sharp again.

So to summarize

Both monitors at 144hz + both with G-sync = All good except Nvidia frequency bug
Dell @ 144hz | AOC @ 120hz + G-sync on both = blurry text on AOC monitor but no bug
Dell @ 144hz | AOC @ 120hz + G-sync on just Dell = No blurry text & no Frequency bug

any ideas?

So did some more testing tonight and this is not an dual monitor issue

Monitor @ 144hz + Gsync on = Fine
Monitor @ 120hz + Gsync on = Blurry text
Monitor @ 60hz + Gsync on = fine

So to summerize if I set any refresh rate between 61hz up 120hz and switch Gsync on then text becomes blurry

Ok so, firstly, is this a new issue with an existing setup, i.e. has your current setup worked at all at the settings that a currently causing you issues?
On looking at the g-sync compatible displays, the AOC monitor doesn't show up as one, so it can be hit or miss whether g-sync will fully work across its frequency range, but if it's worked in the past then this is a none issue.

a couple of things to try if you haven't already.

1) A clean driver installation of latest drivers
2) Check to see if your 1080 has had the latest DP firmware update here - https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/nv-uefi-update-x64/

Thank you sir for the help.

it did find an update for the firmware but that made no difference. the second AOC monitor is new and only had this dual monitor set-up for a few weeks.

Guessing I am going to have to stick to how it is and deal with it. everything words fine at 144hz with both monitors with G-sync on but i get that bug where the GFX card runs at high clock frequencies even on desktop which annoys me.

when you say they don't drop back down at desktop, what do they end up at?

I know when I had dual monitors, if both were set at high hz the GPU needed to sit at slightly higher clocks to drive the 2 displays than it did with just 1.

if I have both monitors @ 144hz the GPU runs at 1608/5400 frequencies all the time. If I drop one down to 120hz then then they go back down to idle frequencies.

I had a similar bug which seemed to solve itself after I did a display driver uninstaller to clean the drivers off the system, then reinstalled and also set power mode to optimal.

I also read that you can enable something called "multi display power saver mode" in nvidia inspector.

Have you also tried running the Dell @ 120Hz, AOC @ 144Hz with G-sync on? does that fix the blurry text and clock speeds?
