Weird glue residue on S5?

I'm not sure how to explain this, but you know you get the front protective film cover on the handset when you first take it out the box which lists some of the specs and whatnot, I've not had a screen protector on the phone but it's as if that protective film has left dirt on the screen and i've tried washing with water several times but it keeps appearing back (it leaves the pattern of the film protector and you can especially see this around the led notification light).

Does anyone know of a way to clean this?
