Weird GPU Noise Issue

Have tidied up cables now, but currently I am suffering from a noisy GPU. And a fairly strange problem it seems too.

Upon running the rig for the first few hours all was fine, no above average noise. But since last night the GPU has started making a continuous rattling, as if the fan is catching on something inside. However upon inspection this does not appear to be the case. Compounding the weirdness is that this rattling runs at a constant while the PC is idle, or doing little to no graphic intensive work. But say if I'm on a webpage and I scroll down far quickly the rattling momentarily stops for when it's doing something even slightly taxing. I have been playing a bit of Chess Titans. When no one is moving the rattling is going on - when a piece moves it momentarily ceases, then continues when the move is finished.

I have so far installed CS Source, Battlefield 2 and FEAR, all of which when played do not make the rattling/catching noise (because it's having to actually do something?). I should stress that when a game is being played it's nice and quiet, sounds fine. When I exit them and go back to desktop, it begins again. Here's a pic of my idle temp and fan speed:

Then here is a pic of when I have been playing FEAR on the menu screen then alt-tabbed back to control center and quickly took a screeny:

0% to 90%?

Here is another pic of after playing FEAR and running the video stress test (about two minutes worth) and doing the same:

Have I got something set up wrong in the Catalyst Control Center or is it a faulty fan/GPU? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

i think its defo the fan, the catalyst may be not installed properly causing the fan to go to 100% at any stress. try reinstalling the gfx drivers and catalyst (9.6), and see if it fixes the problem if not just set the fan speed manually and up it if you need the temps to stay down when gaming. is the card overclocked or anything?

I've tried playing around with the fan settings and this much I can ascertain. 34% or higher gives me no rattling noise whatsoever. 33% gives a bit, 32% bit more and so on. 30% is the default on here. The noise is made even worse by taking it slower, with around 24%-25% being at it's most noisiest. Now my dilemma is simple, do I politely adjust it from 30% to 35% and accept a noticably louder system and a possibly faulty fan or send it back?

could be a screw in there:( mebbes u shoulod examine your graphics card thoroughly:D

but erm i would double check there is a genuine issue before sending somethin back tbh
