Weird graphics problem in Grid

The intro videos play fine but when I get to the main menu I'm presented with this:

It will shift around a bit as I move through the menus but I can't see any more than screens like that.

I've tried the latest drivers for my 3870 as well as older ones and it doesn't make a difference. All my other games seems fine so I very much doubt it's on the way out. Also running the latest patch.

Any ideas?

do a complete reinstall, dont install the patch straight away and then give it a go.
