Weird Graphics Problem

Heya,

Past 2 - 3 months i've been getting weird lines coming from characters while playing games...

Heres a picture of what i mean

Seems to happen a few hours after i start playing..

Card's an ATI X1800 256mb with a Zalman FC-ZV9 Fatal1ty Cooler.

Dont think it's overheating as i've been monitoring this for a week or so and it doesnt seem to go over 50°C at the moment i've just alt-tabbed to post this and it's running at 47.75°C.

1st noticed it when Battlefield 2142 was released that was when i put the new cooler on it which seemed to solve it for a little while but it keeps returning.

Game i mainly run on my system are BF2142, WoW and RFOnline.

Anyone have any ideas on what this could be ?

Try differnt drivers, if that doesn't work it could well be a ram problem :(
Tried that :(

Used ATI, OMEGA, Warcats and now i'm on NGO all seem to have the same result.

Would that be GFX RAM Or system ram ?

The ram on the card is what I would point the finger at :(
Darn :( Anyway to test it ? and if it this guess i gotta RMA the card which i wouldnt be able to do because i've changed the cooler ><

Edit: All games are patched up to latest versions and it still happens :(

You overclocked ** card or anything else if so stick it on stock and see if it helps. Tho looks kinda like driver issue to me as i saw somit like this in star trek armada and later drivers cured it.

Failing them suggestions. Try underclocking ** card see if it removes the problem.

I've RMA'd mine, getting a HIS X1950 Pro 512MB. I'm keeping away from Gecube!!
eeekk well thats kinda off putting then might be a HIS then.

Edit nope not done any overclocking at all still running at stock.

Ran that software to test it and during the whole test the video memory test box is just blank and doesnt seem to ever do anything other than report a timeout error ...

Can you complete any of the 3d mark programs? They will stress test video ram and core rather hard. So if you dont see any tearing like ** getting then it might not be ** card.

Gonna give this a run once it downloads so i'll post my findings.

Well ran the 3DMark06 tests and exactly the same thing happens graphics start tearing where ever possible :(

Soooo now i'm trying to decide what to do can't RMA it due to changing the cooler :( so i guess this means new card time anyone heard of issues with the HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ?

Cant you just put the stock cooler on and make it look like it was never off?

Btw have you tryed reseating the card or possibly trying to see if theres a update for the bios for gfx? Not sure what pci-e driver there is as i just know the agp gart driver or whatever it is.

Also before you do anything like rma attempt or buy new card lets see if it can work ok in another computer, family or friend will let you try it in perhaps?

Just given the card a reseat and my BIOS are all up to date. It's still happening after doing so :(

none of my friends or family are running PCI-E there all AGP still :(

Exactly what i thought :(

Think i'm gonna order the HIS and then once that arrives RMA my X1800.

Can't do without the net :p Tho it would be a reason to complete a few games on me 360 hehehe

Hmm a thought just struck my mind. Tho highly doubtful it could be ** pci-e slot thats messed up. Any chance of testing a old pci-e card if u have one about tho i doubt you do. :(

Just i was thinking if it was the pci-e slot playing up you most probably wouldnt even be able to use ** computer tho if it could be the slot that is causing the tears (doubtful i know) if you got another pci-e card it might still have tearing i was thinking.
