Weird high pitch screech

When I run a GPU test with a high frame rate (~3000 FPS) or if I run FRAPS at the loading up stage of a game with a high frame rate (1000-2000FPS) my machine makes a loud high pitch squeal, in time with the rapidly changing frame rate. I'm certain this is caused by the GPU, but how?

dont worry about it anyway. happens to nearly everyone, someone else will know the technical details. Ive forgotten, something about transistors. I 1st noticed it on the logo's before crysis

Yer, logo's of Crysis is where I first noticed it too. Thanks for the reassurance, though would be could to know a cure!

i have a similar issue when playing the stalker series i get a high pitch squeal when vsync is applied using rivatuner D3 overider it goes

Ok, the squeal has got slightly worse, and slightly louder, and to top things off, Crysis has crashed on loading 4 times in a row... I played it 10 - 20 times without any problems at all before today! However, I have just attempted to play it a 5th time (after resetting the ATI Control Centre) and it worked... albeit still with that ridiculous squeal.

It's got nothing to do with overload, it's simply fast output that does it.

Run something that does several hundred FPS and you will get a squeal. Run something far more demanding, that with that card damned near on fire, can only do 40fps....no squeal. Since your monitor only shows 60fps and anything more simply introduces instability in the game, stick your vsync on and relax....especially since the card, if it can do 3000fps in said game, will basically be picking it's nose most of the time.....OR you can start ramping up the AA and AiF settings to use up some of the spare capacity.

I think I'm just being stupid, but I've searched through the Catalyst Control Center pretty thoroughly and can't find VSync... on another note, I now get a ticking when I scroll down in a browser too quickly, which I didn't have before... it feels like the card is just getting worse and worse!

Dunno what it's called in CCC "sync every frame" or something maybe?

However, if it's squealing when doing 40fps in crysis, and twittering on the desktop, maybe it IS just a wee bit sick.
