Weird Humming Noise?

hey guys,

Im getting a weird humming noise coming from the pc?
its like it builds up then stops, builds up then stops etc.
its not loud but it noticeable and annoying!
The worst part is ive no idea which component is causing it!
v difficult to isolate

any ideas what this could be or is this fairly normal??

It might be your hd resonating, try removing or loosen the screws.

The noise is coming from my PSU!
hard drives are fine..
what sort of noise is normal cos this is getting louder, surely im entitled to a replacement? Its not acceptable, its louder than my case fans and there is 6 of them!!

It's your samsung 1tb F1. I have exactly the same thing as do many others.

nah, im not so sure, i know the noise the F1 makes its like a clicking noise, this is a pulsing wooshing noise from a fan?? having stuck my head in its definitely the PSU area

Shove a pencil in to stop the PSU fan (carefully) and see if the noise disappears. If so, that's the culprit. Possible to change the fan mounts or the whole fan if you don't want to go down the RMA route. Might simply be out of balance due to crap/dust on the blades?
