So I bought a bitfenix alchemy 8pin EPS extension cable but now windows gets stuck on the boot screen. Not sure what the issue is here windows loads fine without the extension cable.
Sometimes it's loading up but still taking longer than it should be. Once it came up with chkdsk and asked whether to cancel or go ahead so I went through with it of course, no errors or anything.
Then when booting the PC kept turning off then on a few times before displaying an error message saying overclock has failed, so I had option to reset bios which I did.
Even now it's still on windows loading screen, so I'm going to wait it out till it loads hopefully.
Then my action plan is to back up all files and reinstall windows
I did a system restore when I managed to get on but that hasn't changed anything.
Also can get into safe mode without problem, if that's any use to anybody
@String: No I don't have any electrical equipment such as that
Sorry I forgot to mention this problem also started occurring on the normal cable from the PSU..
Anyway I've sorted it now opened up the other side of the case and re-connected the SATA and power cables for HDDs. I suspected something may have come loose because I had to pull a cable from the fan controller to get it to reach the cable for a new fan I installed.
Now there is no loading problem with either the PSU or extension cable
