Weird issues 18 months after building PC

Sounds like a dodgy cpu.
Specifically the CPU i/o die.
The I/o die has the memory controller and the pcie lanes so may well be the cause of your woes.
If you don't mind tinkering you can try bumping up the vsoc/vddio voltages but ultimately it's a RMA jobbie
Great thank you - I'll try out a replacement CPU.

Well I've rebuilt it - got a new CPU that now seems to work (touch wood). Old motherboard and memory seem fine (thank goodness). I put the stock air cooler back on the 4080 Super and got a dedicated AIO so it's easier to maintain and upgrade. Hard tubing was a brilliant hobby moment and I felt proud of the achievement but it's a real pain when anything goes wrong!

Now I have a load of watercooling bits and pieces I don't need: fittings, blocks etc. Anything good to do with them? Is there a giveaway thread on these forums - I don't particularly want the hassle of selling piece by piece.
