weird laptop keyboard problem got me stumped

Ok so i recently bought a Samsung R20 C2D laptop (vista home premium). Love it tbh it's great. But as i type a few hundred thousand keystrokes a week, don't want to wear its keyboard out. No problem thinks i, i'll plug a KB into it when i'm at home. So i get a USB>PS/2 adaptor and plug in the very IBM KB i am typing on now, also a old chic optical mouse. Fine, works great.

Next time i try to type on the laptop's own keyboard, all my keys are messed up. If i press all the letter keys it goes like this qwerty456*asdfgh123zxcvbn0 :mad:

So into control panel goes i, and the keyboard bit reckons i have HID device, which is this IBM board, down as plugged into USB. The other board it sees, plugged into keyboard port, is a "standard 101/102 key microsuck" type board. Shurely shome mishtake mish moneypenny methinks. i've tried everything i know to get it to pick the internal kb properly to no avail, searched for known issues, etc. De Nada. Not a sausage.

Really hope someone can figure this out because this IBM kb is too big for my laptop bag.. which means it isnt the portable pc it should be :confused:

my laptops developed a weird problem, pressing k results in k=
does the same in windows and linux :/

cant be as bad as my laptop

i can be typing a sentence and get half way through it then my bloomin cursor jumps back to the beggining.....so the middle of the sentence ends up at the beggining GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

im not even brushing the touchpad and it really p's me off.......any help would be fantastic as its really annoying

even though you say its not, i still reckon its the touchpad.
tried disabling the touchpad or does it happen if you plug a usb keyb in?

my one does something similar, with mine its picked up as both ps/2 mouse and as a hid compliant mouse in device manager.
if i disable the hid one it works perfectly.

hi, it doesnt do it with a USB mouse.....but i dont really like using a mouse on a laptop, much prefer the touchpad...i unclicked a box that said, disable mouse/touchpad movement while typing so all i can do is wait and see

Try this, switch the track pad on and plug in a external keyboard and see if it does it when you type on the external keyboard.

Also your not hitting the home key are you? as that would take you back to the start of the line.

oh yeah i know it defeats the object, but in the interests of testing, it cant hurt to try and see if the touchpad is really the cause, or not.

sony touchpads are REALLY sensitive at stock settings. This samsung C2D is my first laptop, but my parents have a 1ghz duron sony vaio and its got a really sensitive touchpad... so sensitive i have to have a usb mouse plugged in to use it...
