So I just came back from a 3 week holiday, went to turn on the PC and no input. So i check the connections etc, nothing. Look inside the case to find strange sticky wet blobs on top of the graphics card. A little on the motherboard, and the case fan was so wet I could peel the sticker off. It looks like it's came from the top case fan (nothing at all left on top of the case when I've been away). So I remove the graphics card and it's inside the ports at the back. So I put my old 7870 in, and it boots up fine.

So two questions, can I save my 390x ( I really don't want to fork out for a new one) the fans spin.

And what the **** is it? Grease from the top fan?

Looking at the GPU liquid is leaking out from the screw holes too!

But they don't contain coolant, they just remove heat from the block.

Most heatpipes do contain liquid - that is how they transfer heat.

Liquid heated at the base > evaporates up through the pipes to the fins > gets cooled down to liquid > back to base > Repeat

Well I stand corrected, I always assumed it was just piping. So theres a chance it could've cracked?

Which could mean, it'd be covered under warranty?

If it's a heatpipe failure , and you didn't damage it yourself, then i see absolutely no reason why the warranty wouldn't cover it

if it's from a quality manufacturer and you can prove it was an inherent fault in the cooler then you might be able to go down the warranty

Cleaned it up with some IPA, and it worked and then just constantly dies or BSOD. So new card time it is, never really wanted a new card as of yet :(

Sorry to compound your pain but it's really not the right time either, prices are bonkers.

Maybe lurk the Members Market for awhile?
