Weird mic problem

When I have my mic plugged into the front socket pink along with my headphones plugged into the front green socket, my microphone picks up every thing I'm doing (typing, clicking, coughing, etc) and I can hear it through my headphones. This never used to happen....

When I plug it into the back I don't get this problem - I just get horrible distorted static noises.

My sound control panel stuff is all set up correctly as far as I can see.

I've got a bad feeling I've broken the front panel sockets putting and taking out plugs.

Any idea whats happened?

I don't really understand why it should be differenet for your front panel, but the reason you can hear yourself is you have Stereo Mix (Creative What U hear) selected on the recording side, and your mics not muted on the playback side.
Did you set it to this, and what do you use it for?

Normaly you would only use it like that if you wanted to talk over music.
