Weird MS Mouse Driver Problem

Bought a new Microsoft Wireless 5000 Laser Mouse today, installed the software and connected it, but the USB adapter insists that I need Microsoft Optical Mouse 1.0 Drivers and won't let me use any other .inf file or anything. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but no luck.

Any ideas?

if it's an MS mouse - go the the MS website and download the latest IntelliPoint software. That will cover it.
