weird net problem

I am on ukfsn 8mb and today my Internet has basically died,i am only getting 4.6kbs download but my upload is really slow as well.I have just checked my router and this is what it says

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 416 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 59 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 12 db 3 db

Could it be a problem with my exchange or isp

i normaly get around 6mb speeds its been good for months then today i was browsing the net and suddenly everything started getting sluggish,msn disconnecting and reconnecting and doing speed tests i get like 6kbs

Found the problem!

This morning my net was dead and phone was dead,but if i unplugged the internet from the dsl filter my phone worked.So i thought i wounder if the filter is broken,so i went out and bought a new filter,soon as i got home tryed that and nothing same problem.I couldnt work it out what could be wrong then my dad said "i wounder if i cut the cable when i put the new carpet down on the stairs yesterday" so we went and had a look and guess what he had only went and put a carpet nail straight through the cable lol.We dont have any phone sockets upstairs so i run the cable from the filter downstairs upstairs.We managed to patch the cable and it works a treat now.

my router says

Line Attenuation 29 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 15 db 24 db

But my speed tests are only giving me around 6kbs but my upload is normal at around 40kbs.I have no idea what is going on now

i cant seem to get this bt speed test to work,it keeps saying my login isnt correct even if its exactly the same as the one that in my router.

anyone know how long it takes for the profile to catch up? my upload is fine but download i cannot get passed 12kbs
