Hi all,

Ran into a weird problem when trying to overclock my E6600 for the first time.

Bascially I had CPUZ, Orthos and Core Temp 0.95 running ready to test my new settings.

But the reported clock speed in Orthos and Core Temp was way higher than CPUZ.

CPUZ reports what my P5B deluxe reports to me in the BIOS. But the temps are ridiculous when testing! Reaching 70c!

Any ideas what I've done wrong???

Did you disable intel speedstep from the bios? ;)

Also what cooling are you using? 70c on the cores should be fine if your on air... 3.8ghz is a good clocker ;)

Hmm, i'm gonna have another look and see if I missed it out pal!

Yeah i'm on air, Scythe Ninja.

I'll be over the bloody moon if it clocks too 3.8ghz!!!! I'm using it at the moment at this speed and seems stable enough :)

Thanks for the help, i'll report back in a moment.

Ok been through my BIOS and can't seem to find anything about EIST??

I googled a bit and found C1E required disabling, which I have done but it hasn't made any difference.

Any help would be really appreciated! :D

when you run orthos... does cpu-z details change?

Hey,

No it doesn't mate. Stays the same, which is also the what the BIOS reports.

I did notice when I press start on Orthos it reports a 9x multi, even though it is set in the BIOS as 6x.

I'm clueless lol :D

Yep, sounds like speedstep, the multi and voltage go back up when the CPU is under load iirc.
