when I boot into windows as it goes from my loading screen to desktop for a split second I get a weird multi colour strip across the screen

looks like its make up of little boxes like a test page maybe started a few weeks back but noticed it was larger today about two inches across the screen

any ideas ? been getting the odd freeze in games as well was thinking that is heat related but runs fine if I turn avast of or seems to

need to check what the warranty is on the sapphire nitro + rx6700xt

Order Date: 29.03.2021 from OC but have a sinking feeling it might only be two years

Think I will try a fresh windows install and see how that rolls first have time to play with

its been on for over two years and could be dodgy drivers

Support also suggested trying this first

@Game Yeah it would definitely be preferable to rule that out first, especially if you have a spare SSD you can test on (so you can revert to your existing install after an issue is confirmed, assuming you would want to!)

Make sure you put the card under some decent load when testing, such as 3d mark/unigine on loop, or a very demanding game (something that keeps the card at 99-100% utilisation) for a couple of hours minimum

it does give me a reason to buy a new 1tb m2 but I think a new install is well overdue either way boot times ect

Do you have any kind of adapter between the card and the moihtor?

ok then I might have resolved the weirdness did some trawling on tomshardware and reduced the windows refresh rate on the monitor down to 144hz this seems to have solved it on bootup

might also try a new display port cable , ordered a hdmi cable to try as well

will see how it goes in game

stopped the crashes now had my i5-10400f running at full tilt turned it back to normal and had one in 15 hours of game time

did get a decent hdmi cable but yet to try that and 165hz

turned out that was not the issue but all my crashing problems had been down to my system m.2 drive being on the way out (chances are it was corrupting files )

last time I use an old drive in a second build for the system

fresh windows install on a different drive sorted it the system drive bricked itself two weeks ago

its been good as gold ever since
