Weird PC issue

Hi guys

I recently purchased a prebuilt from OcUK (Ultima Viper with SSD). I'm experiencing a problem which I'm not really sure about and hence require assistance.

During normal use it seems that one of the components (my guess is the hard drive) goes into standby mode. You can only tell when you start a program (open a web browser, start a game, play a video clip anything really) and there is a pause of about 3-4 secs and I hear a spinning sound followed by a couple of clicks and then the program starts. Is this normal? Its really starting to annoy me and I want to turn it off somehow.

Hope my post makes sense. Any help will be much appreciated.

Control panel/Hardware and sound/Power options/Change when the computer sleeps/Change advanced power settings.

In the window that pops up, Hard disk/Turn off hard disk after, change setting to never and apply.
