I've just been running some tests with 3D Mark, seeing the difference in performance between different CPU speeds, memory timings etc and these were my results...
CPU @ 3.2GHz 400MHz FSB
Memory @ DDR800 4-4-4-15
X1900XT @ 750MHz Core / 830MHz Memory
Results:
SM2: ~2700
SM3: ~3000
CPU: ~2800
Total: 7300
CPU @ 3.68GHz 460MHz FSB
Memory @ DDR920 5-5-5-15
X1900XT @ 750MHz Core / 830MHz Memory
Results:
SM2: ~2000
SM3: ~2000
CPU: ~3200
Total: 5300
Although my CPU score was a lot higher when overclocked more, for some reason my graphics scores dropped like a stone. Exactly the same overclock was applied and I can't think of a reason they would drop so much!
I've heard about the strap timings changing over 400MHz FSB but I didn't think it would affect the graphics scores as much as it did. Also I thought that around 460MHz it would balance out the decrease in performance from the looser strap.
Anyone got any ideas on what the problem might be?
