Weird phone number keeps ringing me

I've had numerous missed calls from the same number this past week. It's a local London number (0207). I've genuinely missed all the calls. Just now, I missed 3 in a row. The problem is, when I call it back it rings once then I get what sounds like the BT operator woman saying, "No messages are waiting. Please try again later. Thank you. Goodbye!" and promptly hangs up.

I don't get it. I've had 10 missed calls from this number in like 5 days. If it was that important they would leave a voicemail?

scam tbh. you're probably paying £10 a go to call that number. :p

I work on the principle that if they don't leave an answerphone messsage\text they had nothing worth saying and should be ignored. :)

I've had LOADS of missed calls from an 01792 number which i googled and it turns out to be a third party calling on behalf of phone operators asking people to move their contracts over to another network but its a scam so i just ignore the calls.

Google the phone number.

I had a call from some company trying to get me to switch networks the other day from a 0207 number as well! I told them where to go of course! :D

EDIT: I can't spell yay!

What's the number? I work for Ofcom.
I was gonna PM it to you, but realised that's disabled lol. It's 0207 370 8160. It could be my work calling me, because their offices have a few numbers and are all 0207. But they usually have voicemail when you ring them.

Yeah I remember having a call from supposedly o2 who were trying to get me to switch plans, but then when I questioned what details they had about me they hung up/it got cut off. Can't remember if it was the same number as this though.

My calls from 0207 numbers are usually after switching contracts, I just hang up, if its anything important they'll keep phoning or leave a message.

Erm 0207 is London is it not?

Yeah but the only time I've been phoned by an 0207 its someone offering me a contract switch, I don't know anyone in London so I don't get any other calls from 0207 numbers.

I've edited it so its more clear :)

This is also what I do, if a number isn't in my phone book or I'm not expecting a call, I don't answer. Gets annoying when I get called half a dozen times in a row though.

When I was in China for 3 months last summer, my bt landline actually got changed over to some weird inidan company. I had no communications from the other company. BT sent me a letter in July saying they had been requested to change over. Of course I wasn't there to open it. When I got back I called BT and they transferred me back. I never got billed for the month or so I was with the other company, so who knows ?

Yeah, that happened to me too last year. Luckily I intercepted them before they actually changed over. No idea how a request to change landline operators happened though.

Any ideas? That's pretty much the only info I can give you. However, contact BT and report it as a nuiscance call - they will give you any info you need.
