weird problem driving my insane

well i have lots of pc games i just installed the original hitman then went to install zoo tycoon 2 bow when i put the disc in the little image that appears in the my computer section shows the hitman symbol ??? zoo tycoon will install fine but when i attempt to launch it freezes then hangs.

doe's anyone know why it's doing this or how to stop it i've tried un-installing both games manually deleted any left over residue from them i can find then tried installing them the opposite way round i:e zoo tycoon first but it still happens and that damn hitman image still appears instead of the zoo tycoon one.

there must be a snippet of info left in the system somewhere but i can't locate it and without sorting it out i can't play zoo tycoon

i find that using ccleaner (available from filehippo.com) helps wih things liek this. uninstall, run the cleaner, run the registry cleaner, run the cleaner, restart and try again.

What's your OS? the Zoo Tycoon hanging won't be anything to do with the icon, it may be that it's incompatible with your system, or you need to run it in compatibility mode, or you need to switch off UAC (if you're using Vista or Windows 7), or run the game as an administrator.

The Hitman icon is just your icon cache playing up. If you have Vista, just enable hidden folders then go to Local Disk>Users>you>appdata>local.

Delete iconcache file.

Also, go to the Temp folder (in Local too) and delete everything in it. Restart PC.

This should get rid of the icon straight away, but if it doesn't it will go away after a bit.

I have mild OCD when it comes to PCs, so have had the same problem myself!

What I don't like is when the icons are wrong in the uninstall programs bit in My Computer. I spend ages sorting that out... lol
