Ok so i push the power button and you can hear the hard drives reading. after this the pc just stops all power goes.

yet if i unplug the power to the motherboard and then replug it in ... asif by magic it works again?

so i tested the power on a asus f1a55 m le with a a6 3500 in it and it works perfect no issues even if i shut down then power back on

my pc specs are

asus f1a75 v pro
amd a8 3870k
amd 1600mhz performance ram
HD6670
some age old qtec 650 psu that has been used since my first pc

It's not weird at all. That Qtec piece of rubbish PSU needs to be thrown in the bin immediately. They were one of the worst PSU brands. I had one years ago before I knew any different.

sweet if its just the psu no problem since on payday im buying a new psu and pc case since my case is like an oven

ive seen a bargain cooler master elite 334 case with a cooler master 460w psu for cheaps i may snap up since it is only 60 quid. that should be more than enough to power my set up.

To be fair, it may or may not be the issue, however the Q-tec really really needs to go. Won't know until you try another psu, i wouldn't even use the Q-tec on a Pentium 3 rig if i owned it.

well it is a classic psu i swear it about 9 years old. i did not want to use it but the psu i had running my a6 3500 just did not cut it when i added the 6670

psu will have to wait untill i get paid so hope the computer dont burn out within 2 weeks lol.

it weird cause once its on it works great although that psu is getting noisy and it was like a dyson before anyways

but as i said when it was on the a6 3500 with the f1a55 m le it worked a treat without this issue only since getting this mobo and cpu combo

Holy ****. How did a Q-tec last 9 years?
Not sure how good those CM 460w PSUs are, but, then again, my knowledge of current PSUs is pretty poor.

Apparently the OEM of the CM 460W is FSP. It's not a bad unit, just not wonderful. It's possible that CM have updated the OEM or spec since the review in 2009 or whenever though.

My Q-Tec lasted about 6 months before it kept causing my PC to hang all the time. Once it got going it was mostly fine but it often took 5 or 6 boot attempts to get it running.
