Weird problem with broadband when online gaming

I was hoping some of you good people might be able to help me out with this. For the past 3-4 days, whenever I've been online gaming, I get these weird lag spikes that crop up every few minutes and last for a few seconds. Needless to say they're pretty annoying.

First thing I thought was my broadband was playing up again, because I have had issues with VM in the past due to oversubscribed UBR's and the like. However, I've just run the tests I normally do and everything with the actual line seems fine. Pingtest.net is telling me my line is 'A' grade, and continuous ping in command prompt reaffirms that (0% packet loss, 99% of pings are within 1ms of the average, which is 20ms) so I don't think it's that.

So what might be causing the problem, and how can I go about proving it? Btw, the game I'm referring to is SFIV with GFWL on Steam.
