Just recently my sound has started to be messed up when the PC is overclocked.
A few days ago i had to reset the mobo due to overheating, my downstairs neighbours are old and must have their heating pumped up to the max now that it's winter and it's making my flat absolutely sweltering. anyway, the other night the PC seized up and refused to restart after temps had started soaring, so i reset the mobo and everything was fine. Now whenever i try to OC, my sound starts to get messed up. It's hard to describe but it's like a crackly hitching noise.
The PC was clocked to 3.4GHz for a while before the reset and was absolutely fine other than the overheating problem with the neighbours. I run a GTX and love for games to be maxed out so it's pointless me having a 6300 running at stock. I had planned to drop the clock to around 2.8 - 3Ghz depending on temps, but no matter what i clock to atm i encounter the sound problem which is really annoying considering it happens with every single sound on the pc, from windows noises to ventrilo and game sounds.
When the PC is reset to stock settings everything is fine. I can't for the life of me figure this out, i haven't changed anything different. The only thing i haven't tested as of yet is voltages. Right now as i type this the PC is only running at 2.45 GHz with all stock voltages and the sound problem is there. I realy shouldn't need to be upping voltages on such a low clock considering the system is stable upto 3Ghz at stock voltages.
Any insights or suggestions would be very much appreciated here as i am literally getting to the pulling of the hair stage.
