Ok, I built my pc a while ago. And it was working fine until y'day, when I went to turn it on, it went past the BIOS message, and that...But then the screen went blank and it just stayed like that.

I restarted it a couple of times, still the same problem.

Also I insterted the Windows XP cd, and set the boot priority to CD Rom first, and it got to the message press any key to boot from CD, but after that, the screen goes blank and nothing happens.

Any ideas what's wrong ?!

Thanks :)

Have you checked all fans are working? CPU fan may not be working and then turning off for safety?

hmmm you got a spare gfx card you can try ?? my ssiters gfx card just doed over day. pc turned on but monitor in standby. stuck new card in worked fine.

If it's the GFx card, would the BIOS message come up though ?

I've got intergrated graphics with my mobo, as well as a gfx card...so I took the gfx card out, and switched to integrated....still no luck.

When you say screen goes blank, does the display die completely? Like switch to standby? Or do you just see a cursor blinking or something.

If the GPU was buggered you wouldn't see the BIOS post messages.

Display dies completely, but the PC is still on...
