Bt made an error a few weeks back with my phone line and told me i had to get a new number and a reconnection and my broadband was cut off when this happened.

roll forward to when i got my new broadband active, sky LLU 20mb package with sky talk.

Since the new number has been connected and my sky has been put on i cant recieve any incoming calls, well i can but the phone does not ring but if i phone with my mobile and pick up the handset it will connect, i did this to test the call was coming through.

Also when i pick up the reciever there is dial tone and when i press buttons it doesnt make the usual tone but sounds like lots of static each button press and same when its apparently ringing i dont hear any ringing at all but the call will connect fine. This problem still occurs in any phone extension ive got an extension in my room and master socket in living room both have same problem and it occurs when connected to master socket.

This has also cause my sync speed to drop dramtically as with ADSL24 LLU and Orange i was on 3mb-3.5mb to 1.5mb a second.

Ive got a BT Engineer coming on thursday but im not sure if its a problem at the exchange or not.

If anyone has had this problem would be nice to hear what the cause was

I don't have access to another phone as ive misplaced my wireless telephones handset but my current telephone has been in this house for years so im sure that would be analogue its a BT Relate 80 if that helps.

did you unscrew the faceplate of the master and only plug the phone in? in the test socket.

im sure sky would have asked to do this

also they would have done a line test.
the response would tell them if its a fault with the exchange or not.

tbh its prob the exchange assumiing this from when you mentioned your number and everything you had issues with.

shouldnt be a charge on your part.

yeah its same in the test socket thats what i meant by master i couldnt think of the name.

Yeah i just phoned BT as thats who my line provider is i couldn't phone sky at all as they dont have a mobile friendly number.

Ive did line tests and no faults come through that but im guessing something has went wrong at exchange as its only since the number got changed ive had this problem

yea if bt are your phone provider then let them take a look its most deff with the exchange but you never know....

its them who do the line test so they would know what fault sometimes they dont communicate with the customers tho about the fault codes and stuff

oh and all your extension socks should not have had anything plugged in when doing the test socket test

hold on - jus realised you said skytalk???

how dod you get BT to ocme over then?
unless sky advised you or bt handle the cust calls for sky dont know how sky work but arent sky the ones who do the line test and handle all queries because its them providing the phone service????

Yeah they are sending an engineer out, do they do any checks at exchange before coming to my property? never had a BT engineer visit before.

And all other extensions does not have anything plugged into it because i don't use it, my lines really only for broadband and if my parents want to phone.

yea theyll do outside first they might not even bother coming in
they may or may not ring your mobile to let you know theyre coming
they might ring and not even turn up at the house because they didnt need to and they wont tell you either lol

if they do come in then probe for answers like whether they found the fault outside and if they find a fault inside tonot go ahead and fix it but ingorm you of any charges first because sometimes they miight fix it and then charge if the problem is inside the property and is damage to the internal wiring as that is the property owners responsibility

cool yeah the guy informed me there might be charges on phone and they text today saying the time it be.

Sounds easy enough anyway.
